Williams was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Williams was claimed off waivers by the Marlins in early September, and he was removed from the 40-man roster after surrendering five runs on nine hits with a 3:5 K:BB over 6.1 innings. The 30-year-old could head to Triple-A Jacksonville if he passes through waivers unclaimed.
