Almonte had his contract selected from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.
Mark Vientos was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Aug. 16, in a corresponding move. Almonte comes back to the majors after he was outrighted to Triple-A on Tuesday. He has one hit in his 12 plate appearances in the majors this season.
