Smith isn't in the lineup Wednesday against Atlanta.
Smith started in the second game of Tuesday's twin bill and went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two strikeouts. Even with a right-hander (Ian Anderson) on the mound for Atlanta, the lefty-hitting Smith will give way at designated hitter to J.D. Davis, who may be the Mets' preferred option for the role at this stage following the recent removal of Robinson Cano from the 40-man roster.
