Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Cubs.
Alvarez drove in the Mets' first two runs with a two-RBI single in his opening plate appearance before adding a 403-foot solo homer off Phil Maton in the seventh inning. The long ball was his sixth of the season. Since returning from the injured list on June 9, Alvarez has recorded a hit in nine of his 11 games while batting .300 (12-for-40) over that span.
