Cotts was released Wednesday by the Angels after opting out of his minor-league deal.
Cotts was playing for Triple-A Salt Lake City, but chose to opt out of deal. The Angels decided not to place him on the 25-man roster, and instead released him. He pitched 13.2 innings for Triple-A Salt Lake City, with an ERA of 3.95 and nine strikeouts.
