Mayo went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Nationals.
Getting the start at third base and batting eighth, Mayo banged out the first hit of his big-league career with a single to lead off the fifth inning. The 22-year-old had gone 0-for-15 since his promotion coming into Wednesday, but his .301/.375/.586 slash line at Triple-A Norfolk this season is a reminder that the hits could come in bunches for Mayo once he gets comfortable.
