Mayo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Astros.
Mayo launched a solo shot in the sixth inning before adding a single in the eighth. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a strong July so far, posting a 1.015 OPS with three homers through 10 games this month. With Blaze Alexander landing on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a broken hand, Mayo should have a fairly clear path to an everyday role at third base if he's able to maintain his hot-hitting ways.
