The Orioles designated Tate for assignment Wednesday, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.
The move clears a 40-man roster spot for waiver claim Forrest Wall. Tate, 30, held a 3.69 ERA and saved eight games as one of Baltimore's most-trusted relievers between the 2021 and 2022 seasons, but he missed all of 2023 with a flexor strain and hasn't been able to bounce back in 2024 with a 4.59 ERA and 23:9 K:BB over 33.1 frames.
