The Padres re-signed Edwards to a minor-league contact Monday.
Edwards elected free agency after being outrighted off the Padres' 40-man roster earlier this month, but he's ultimately returned on a new deal. The righty failed to retire a batter in his lone appearance for San Diego and holds a 1.85 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 24.1 innings with Triple-A El Paso this season.
