Garces has been moved to a starting role at Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
After struggling to keep his ERA below 4.00 while pitching from the bullpen for much of the season, Garces has seen his game improve since being used as a starter. He's had four starts since the change, three of which were respectable performances resulting in four runs across 16.2 innings. However, his most recent start on June 7 was a different story, as he gave up five earned runs in just four innings.
