The Padres placed Kim on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right shoulder inflammation.
Kim received somewhat favorable MRI results after he jammed his shoulder during Sunday's game against Colorado, but the team ultimately decided to put him on the shelf after further evaluation. Tyler Wade will presumably take over as the Padres' primary shortstop while Kim is out, and Matthew Batten will come up from Triple-A to provide additional depth in the infield.
