Thompson was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
Thompson will be called upon to provide bullpen help after the team's relievers threw a combined 14.1 innings over the past two games. His last stint in the majors didn't go so hot, as Thompson allowed eight earned runs on 12 hits across 10 innings (five appearances).
