Leyba signed a minor-league contract with the Pirates on Friday, John Dreker of Pirates Prospects reports.
The 27-year-old utility infielder is already in Pirates camp. Leyba has some major-league experience but split 2022 between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso in the Padres organization, sporting a .755 OPS with 11 homers and 12 steals over 108 games. He'll likely begin 2023 at Triple-A Indianapolis.
