Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Mahle (shoulder) will not make another start this season, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Mahle landed on the injured list Aug. 20 due to stiffness in his right shoulder, but there doesn't seem to be enough time left in the regular season for him to build back up. The 29-year-old right-hander will continue to play catch, however, so he's not being shut down entirely. He'll finish the year with seven earned runs allowed over 12.2 innings across only three starts, as he missed the first half of the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
