Snell (elbow) played catch for the first time since undergoing elbow surgery Monday and fared well, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Snell remains optimistic that he'll be back to throwing off a mound by September, though a timetable for his return should become more clear as he gets further into his throwing program. He made approximately 25 throws from 45-to-6o feet in his initial flat ground session.
