Manager Kevin Cash said Friday that the Rays plan on having Snell make one start before being optioned back to Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Snell is set to make his big league debut in Yankee Stadium on Saturday, but those adding him in non-keeper formats may want to reconsider that transaction for the time being given that this will be a one-start stint. While it's clear that Snell is the Rays' most prized pitching prospect, it's also clear that the organization will be patient with him before making him a full member of the rotation. After Snell heads back to Durham following Saturday's start, he figures to remain in the Triple-A rotation until the Rays need another spot starter.
