Hu was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
With Matt Andriese (hip) being activated from the disabled list Monday, the Rays needed to make space on the 25-man roster. Hu has pitched eight innings over four games with the big club this season, allowing just one run and striking out nine batters while giving up three hits and four walks.
