Hess accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday after going unclaimed on waivers, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Hess has been DFA'd three times this season, and for the second time in less than a month, he's agreed to stay in the Tampa Bay organization after losing his spot on the 40-man roster. Hess allowed six earned runs -- including three homers -- in his lone two-inning appearance during his latest stint with the big club.
