Smyly allowed two runs on five hits over five innings against the Dodgers on Wednesday, striking out six and walking two while receiving no decision.
This wasn't the lefty's most efficient outing, as Smyly threw 93 pitches and was removed after giving up consecutive hits to open the sixth. Even so, he's allowed two or fewer runs in five consecutive starts and owns a spectacular 47:8 K:BB, making Smyly one of the most valuable fantasy starters around in the early going. Although he may be pitching a bit over his head, there's no doubt that Smyly's arrived as an above-average MLB starter. That said, he's never made more than 25 starts in a season, so the biggest question now is how the 26-year-old's health will hold up over the long haul.
