De Leon was activated from the minor-league disabled list Thursday and allowed two earned runs over 3.1 innings while striking out seven hitters for High-A Charlotte, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
It marked the 2017 season debut for De Leon, a highly-touted pitching prospect who made four starts with the Dodgers last season before being traded over the offseason. After dazzling with a 2.61 ERA and 111 strikeouts for Triple-A Oklahoma City last season, the young righty will likely work his way up to Triple-A Durham over the coming weeks, and could get a late season call-up if all goes according to plan.
