The Rays are expected to place Palacios on the injured list Friday with a hyperextended right knee, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Palacios was hurt while running the bases in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Marlins and felt his knee lock up. With Palacios bound for the injured list, Jonny DeLuca could end up taking over a full-time role in the outfield after previously being deployed as a short-side platoon player.
