Walls (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
Walls has been sidelined with a left groin strain since Saturday, and he will now be forced to spend time on the IL. Outfielder Tristan Peters was called up from Triple-A Durham to replace Walls on the major-league roster.
