Boesch underwent wrist surgery Tuesday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
Per the report, Boesch will be facing an 8-to-12 week recovery timetable. The outfielder was seen as a longshot to make the Opening Day roster to begin with, but the broken wrist he suffered last week will effectively rule out any chance he may have had to work his way back to the big leagues, at least until toward the end of the season.
