Shugart was reassigned Tuesday to minor-league camp by the Red Sox.
Shugart was ineffective as a reliever last season at Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester, as he registered a 5.31 ERA over 22 starts in 105.1 innings of work. The right-hander will provide depth at the upper levels again for Boston in 2023.
