Smith is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Texas, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
The lefty-hitting Smith will begin Saturday's game in the dugout after going 1-for-5 with an RBI double in Friday's 11-6 win over the Rangers. Connor Wong will start at first base and bat fifth against Texas southpaw Cody Bradford.
