Rodriguez will be placed on the disabled list after suffering a knee injury when he slipped during warm-ups Thursday night, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
So far the injury is just being labeled as discomfort, although something else may be revealed if Rodriguez is sent for tests. He gave up seven runs on eight hits, including four home runs, in Thursday's start, and the knee injury may have contributed to his struggles. Brandon Workman was recalled from Triple-A to serve as bullpen depth as a corresponding move. Brian Johnson is the obvious candidate to step into the rotation while Rodriguez is out.
