The Red Sox designated Faria for assignment Monday.
Faria didn't have any minor-league options remaining, so Boston had to remove him from the 40-man roster entirely to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for Brayan Bello (forearm), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Monday versus the Angels. After getting called up from Worcester on Sunday, Faria went unused out of the bullpen in Boston's 2-1 win over the Angels.
