The Reds selected Busenitz's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Busenitz had a cup of coffee with the Reds in 2023 but has spent all of 2024 at Louisville, collecting a 3.79 ERA and 53:18 K:BB over 57 innings. The 34-year-old will likely operate in middle relief, although he could work as a bulk reliever behind an opener to fill the rotation spot of Andrew Abbott (shoulder) after Busenitz was stretched out to four innings and 45 pitches in his last appearance for Louisville on Aug. 17.
