Overton (elbow) has given up five earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three over 6.1 innings in two relief appearances for Triple-A Louisville since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Overton made three starts at the big-league level for the Reds last season before undergoing Tommy John surgery last May. He was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on May 14 -- less than a year after his procedure -- before being pulled off the assignment a week later. Overton returned to action in the ACL over the All-Star break, and after eventually moving up to High-A Dayton for a rehab outing July 27, he was cleared to make his 2024 Louisville debut. The right-hander could eventually be an option for Louisville's rotation once he gets more stretched out.
