The Reds acquired Wiemer, right-hander Jakob Junis and cash considerations from the Brewers on Monday in exchange for right-hander Frankie Montas, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Wiemer will get a new opportunity with Cincinnati after struggling to break through with the Brewers. The outfielder has compiled a .224 average with three home runs, 20 RBI, 27 runs scored and six stolen bases over 236 plate appearances in 53 games with Triple-A Nashville this season. Wiemer will likely report to Triple-A Louisville with his new organization.
