Barrero went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Mets.

The 24-year-old shortstop pilfered his first bag of the year in the majors after going 5-for-7 on steal attempts through 55 games for Triple-A Louisville. Barrero has gone 4-for-18 in five games since his promotion while striking out nine times, but the Reds have nothing to lose by giving him consistent playing time down the stretch and seeing if he can make the necessary adjustments.
