The Reds claimed Cabrera off waivers from the Yankees on Friday.
Cabrera is a career .232/.292/.343 hitter over parts of five major-league seasons, but he can play virtually all over the diamond and is under team control through 2028. The 27-year-old appears ticketed for Triple-A Louisville for the time being.
