Barnhart is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
The lefty-hitting Barnhart will remain on the bench for the second game in a row while the Cardinals bring a southpaw (Jon Lester) to the hill. Barnhart's platoon mate, Tyler Stephenson, will start at catcher and bat second in the series opener.
