The Astros released Thomas on Friday.
Thomas was DFA'd by Houston on Thursday to make room on the 40-man roster for LaMonte Wade, and rather than keeping Thomas around at Triple-A Sugar Land, the organization will instead opt to part ways with him. The 26-year-old outfielder has put up just a .612 OPS across 184 plate appearances at Triple-A this season, so he'll likely need to settle for a minor-league deal to land his next gig.
