Freeland (7-4) allowed five runs -- four earned -- on nine hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 5.2 innings during Monday's loss to Pittsburgh.
The rookie sports a serviceable 3.57 ERA and 1.39 WHIP, and it's encouraging that he's been better at Coors Field than on the road (3.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). Freeland's upside is capped by his lack of strikeouts, and he's now allowed seven home runs in his past six starts. His ERA is also likely to begin creeping up closer to his 4.80 FIP, so it wouldn't be a shock if he hit a rookie wall at some point this summer. Freeland lines up to face the Giants at Coors in his next outing.
