Motter was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Motter's contract was selected by the Rockies on Aug. 10, and he served as utility depth with the big-league club. He hit .150 with two runs, two walks and six strikeouts across 13 appearances in the majors and will be removed from the 40-man roster to make room for Raimel Tapia (toe), who was reinstated from the injured list Monday.
