Almonte has been recalled from Double-A Northwest Arkansas and will serve as the Royals' 26th man for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.
Sunday marks Almonte's first trip back to the MLB since 2015. It's likely that his stint in the majors will be short-lived, as he may return to the minors following Sunday's doubleheader. The 24-year-old has posted a 1.86 ERA over 29 innings with Double-A Northwest Arkansas this season.
