Gurriel will start at first base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Tigers.
Gurriel will pick up his fourth consecutive start and looks to have settled in as Kansas City's primary option at first base. Since being acquired from Atlanta on Aug. 31, Gurriel has slashed .348/.414/.435 with five runs and four RBI through his first nine games with the Royals.
