Weber elected free agency Monday rather than accepting on outright assignment.
Weber made his Yankees debut out of the bullpen Thursday against the Rays and allowed a run on two hits and no walks while striking out one in 3.2 innings. However, he was designated for assignment Thursday and will choose to seek out other opportunities via free agency rather than heading back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
