Hurter (1-1) allowed two runs on three hits and struck out four without walking a batter over 3.2 innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Wednesday.
Hurter once again filled a bulk-relief role. He entered the game to begin the third inning with the Tigers already ahead 4-0, and while he allowed a two-run home run to Christian Bethancourt, Hurter was able to come away with his first major-league win. He has a 3.57 ERA through 17.2 innings over his first four appearances, but Hurter's strong control (0.79 WHIP, 17:1 K:BB) makes for an encouraging first impression, and while he's not posting particularly long outings, his role as a bulk reliever gives him a better chance of earning wins if he gets enough run support.
