Mize came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 3-1 extra-inning win over the Royals, allowing one run on six hits and four walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.
Kansas City put runners on base in every inning against Mize, but three double plays turned by the Detroit infield helped stifle the rallies. The right-hander has failed to complete five innings in back-to-back starts, and since rejoining the rotation in late August, Mize has a 4.87 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB through 20.1 innings. He'll look for his first win since June 30 in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Rays.
