Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander took a tough-luck loss Friday, as the offense provided little help in a 2-1 loss to the Twins.
Verlander tossed seven strong innings in the loss, limiting the Twins to two runs on seven hits and a pair of walks. He struck out five while throwing 114 pitches, his second-highest total of the season.
Verlander lowered his ERA to 2.67 with the outing, though his record also fell to 4-2. He will try to get back on track after seeing his four-decision winning streak come to an end, with his next start set for Wednesday in Baltimore.
