Krol was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Krol had seven consecutive scoreless appearances following the All-Star break, but he struggled in his last three appearances and gave up six runs (five earned) in three innings. He'll be cast off the 40-man roster since Jose Urena is expected to be called up to start Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.
