Vierling went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the White Sox.
Vierling got the scoring started for Detroit with a first-inning home run, his fifth of the season. The veteran has seen his playing time trend downward this month as the Tigers have tried using more players in center field. Vierling is versatile enough to pick up starts elsewhere in the field, but he'll need to improve upon his .201 batting average and .608 OPS to remain in the lineup most days.
