Melville (rib) said Monday that he was recently released by the Rockies, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
Melville had been attending spring training as a non-roster invitee after compiling a 4.86 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 33.1 innings across seven late-season starts with Colorado in 2019. The right-hander's long-shot bid for the Rockies' Opening Day roster ended in February, when he suffered a cracked rib that sidelined him for the remainder of spring training. Though he's seemingly healthy again, the Rockies weren't interested in keeping him in the fold and will allow him to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
