Romero was placed on the restricted list Monday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The transaction reflects the fact that visa issues have prevented Romero from reporting to camp. It's unclear what exactly those issues are or when he's expected to be able to join his teammates. Once he's cleared to do so, he'll presumably still need time to build up to regular-season shape.
