Berrios (2-7) gave up two earned runs on four hits and three walks over four innings in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Mets. He struck out four.
The young right-hander pitched reasonably well, but a lack of run support and elevated pitch count didn't help matters. Berrios amassed a whopping 80 pitches over just four frames and gave up back-to-back third-inning homers to Jose Reyes and Asdrubal Cabrera. Despite taking a sixth straight loss, Berrios equaled the fewest amount of earned runs he's allowed in any start this year. He'll look for his first win since Aug. 1 when he takes on the Tigers next Thursday.
