Nittoli was released by Philadelphia on Tuesday.
After the club designated him for assignment Wednesday, the 32-year-old reliever will now attempt to latch on with a new team. Nittoli spent most of his time in Triple-A last season, posting a 3.81 ERA and 1.04 WHIP between three different organizations, though he was able to throw two scoreless frames for the Phillies late in the season. His solid performance should warrant him a minor-league deal from a team in need of bullpen depth.
