White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana tossed 4 1/3 innings Monday and was told after the game he will start the second game of the season, according to MLB.com.
"That second day is my day. Second start right now," Quintana said. "You know I want to be ready for this start and I like this spring for me. I feel really good."
Quintana, who gave up four runs on eight hits Monday, said he's feeling close to ready.
"Just his attitude and the way he goes about things is good as anybody that I have ever been around in the game," said manager Robin Ventura of Quintana. "That's part of his maturity."
