Rodon (1-4) took a loss to the visiting Red Sox on Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six in six innings.
Since winning his second start of the year on April 13, Rodon's gone four consecutive outings without a win (but with three losses) and has seen his ERA explode from 1.38 to 4.36 in that time. This wasn't a bad outing -- the bare minimum to be called a quality start -- but it also represents the latest sign that Rodon hasn't taken a step forward from last season. The 23-year-old southpaw may well grow into an ace one day, but that day isn't here yet.
